Food for Thought

I watched a woman today beg for money on the metro. She held her infant suckling at her breast while she recited a well delivered cry for help. As the section that could hear her words laid their emotions on the floor, she went around for a collection. I find observation fascinating… one woman seemed bothered, another saddened. While no more than three people actually contributed, a solemn sense of unity was found in this basic act; ‘that could be me.’ As we are at our most primitive form; just animals, I often think what can actually classify us as different from our savage ancestry. Compassion? Knowledge retention? I am not sure as to an answer to that yet, but one thing I do know, that moment on the metro, while still very animal in nature, was pure HUMAN.
